Datastage CLIENT at 8.0.1 supports Vista. The server only supports Windows 2003 and (unofficially) Windows XP PRO and Media Center.

If you want to use DataStage on Vista, First install the Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 which supports Windows XP Professional OS ( you can install DataStage on XP then)

It worked for me!!

So you run it "on Vista" by installing XP Pro in a virtual environment under Vista. Sorry, but that made me chuckle. :D

I wonder if *that* combination is supported?

I have the DataStage client running in a Windows XP virtual machine under VMWare Fusion on Mac OS X and it works great! I doubt that is a supported combination, either :D

I suspect you/they have violated your client's end user licensing agreement by requiring that.

To install DataStage on Vista, you have to logon as admin to your PC. By default, the adminstrtor is disabled on vista. First you have to enable administrtor and then install DataStage server normally. This should work.
