Which part of "MKS Toolkit is not installed" is not clear?

Search the forum and Vincent's blogs for tips on how to go about installing IBM Information Server so that the installation completes satisfactorily.

I too had a problem with the installation of datastage because of a corrupted MKS toolkit file. Try installing MKS toolkit separately and see if you have the same problem.

At Version 8 with a windows installation the installation guide states:
Avoid installing IBM Information Server on systems that have versions of the MKS toolkit installed. The engine layer of IBM Information Server installs a version of the MKS toolkit.

But there is no pre existing version of MKS Toolkit.

Well - what are you doing about it? The manual doesn't say that you cannot install MKS seperately so you could try that. What error occurs during the installation - perhaps access rights or space or even a 3rd party product (have you disabled the antivirus as suggested?).

Access rights - are you installing as the system administrator? Can you install MKS tookit separately with the same userid?

Since you said that no existing MKS Toolkit installed on the machine and the MKS Toolkit 9.x could not get installed during the installation, it sounds like that you are installing DS/QS 8.0.1 in MPP?
Tell us more about your Windows environment.

As pointed earlier by Andrw. You *don't* have to install MKS Toolkit, on the contrary the manual asks you to remove any previous installations.

But, just to check that the problem with your installation is not being caused because of a corrupted MKS Toolkit installation file, You can try installing MKS Toolkit separately and see. You can find the installation files for MKS Toolkit on the datastage CD....

Let us know if your installation of MKS Toolkit was fine, which eliminates that as one of the causes....
