Well, "RTI" is now "SOA" is now "WISD" depending on the release. And that is a different beastie from the "WS Pack", which are separate purchases.
The PACK allows you to use web services as sources and targets in 'normal' Server jobs. There is also a Web Service Transformer if you need to call a service row-by-row. The "SOA Edition" is what would allow you to expose an ETL job as a service.

...WSPack no longer costs anything. It is part of v8, and is available for download for earlier releases (not sure the logistics of the download process --- speak to your local sales team)....but again, it's no longer a charge item.
Of course, Craig's definition is on the money --- WSPack provides you with the ability to use DataStage as a SOAP client --- you still need a purchasable license for RTI or WISD in order to publish DS jobs "as" Services.

Thanks for the update Steve. Let us know how it goes. Web Services Pack can range from very easy to very tricky, depending on the complexity of the service you are trying to invoke, its header requirements, its security needs, and whether it's input only, output only, or both.

This is the URL :gateleys wrote:What is the url of the site to download the WSPack from IBM?
https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/i ... e=wiiseval
but there is also an Access Key required. I dont feel comfortable posting that - sorry.
thanks,
steve
When I logged in with my credentials, I could get to the download page (Alas!! to find that the downloads are merely evaluation versions.) Now, although I can choose IBM WebSphere DataStage Pack Web Server, the 'download' link is not active. In fact, the download link is not active for all. Is it because one needs that 'special' access key? I certainly don't think so since I am registered with IBM and also the fact that I could get to that page.evans036 wrote:This is the URL :gateleys wrote:What is the url of the site to download the WSPack from IBM?

Can you share you experience Steve? Thanks.

yes i did note that it was a demo download site.
the access key was not required until i actually opted to download the software.
when you say the 'download' link is not active - do you mean the 'continue' button at the bottom of the page on which you selected the software to download?
thanks,
steve

It's semantics (as far as eval/demo status). WSPack is free, has no auth codes, nor special versions that are hand-cuffed or anything.... assuming you can get your hands on it, from whichever site, you'll be all set. Wish I could get it easily for you myself, but your account team should be able to get you to the right place.
