Algorithm used by DataStage for password encryption?

Post by koolnitz »

Hello All,

I tried to search in the documents (PDFs) but couldn't find anything being pubilshed by IBM/Ascential about the alogrithm used for password encryption. Is anybody aware of the same? Is it mentioned in any of the documents?

Thanks!

Although it's not strong encryption (at least in versions earlier than 8.0) the algorithm is unpublished. Putting it slightly more strongly, the algorithm is "unpublished proprietary information and intellectual property of International Business Machines Corporation" and your licensing agreement expressly forbids you from reverse-engineering it or cracking it by any other means. Or at least from publishing your findings.
