Table Definitions question

Short pragmatic answer -- It doesn't matter.
You'll need an amount of Coding/Development discipline to implement the necessary Best Practices for Table Definitions that is simply too much to ask of most organizations. Specifically, importing and maintaining Table definitions and defining columns on links from those Table definitions should be rigorously controlled. If not, then duplicates and broken column metadata (Table Definition) links will flourish rendering the whole exercise meaningless.

If you want to use MetaStage to perform lineage analysis or "where used" analysis for the table, then promoting the table definitions is mandatory.
