Surrogate key Generation

Hi all,

I have a problem regarding surrogate key, do we have any option in data stage to generate a surrogate key on the basis of some key coloum which are the part of unique primary index.
records may come with same combination of those columns ,all those record should have the same surrogate key.

Of course you have that option. But can you guarantee uniqueness if you're only using part of the primary key? If not, the proposed course of action makes no sense.
