Post by Munish »

Hi Everybody,
I have input as dataset.
Next Stage: Lookup

I needed to trim my input data.
Could any put some light how to do it.
I am using mapping in Lookup stage.

Thanks and regards,

Hi Munish,
You are doing a transformation by doing a Trim.
Lookup stage is build for doing a Lookup. So if you had a quick look into the pdf that are available in you PC Start--.All Programs-->Ascential Datastage-->Online manuals, you can easily identify that there are some other stages like Transformer, Modify or even External filter stage can be used to do this.
Impossible doesn't mean 'it is not possible' actually means... 'NOBODY HAS DONE IT SO FAR'

Use an upstream Modify stage.

Hi, what you want to do is a TRIm, which is a transform function. Hence a lookup can not do such things. Lookup is meant only to find a match and map to output or reject records. U need to add a transformer, and use thhe trim fuction

Munish,

Just use either transformer or modify stage to trim the input columns coming from input dataset instead of lookup.
If u have any more doubts, let me know
