Datastage Upgrade

Post by info_ds »

Hi all,
we are planning to upgrade datastage 7.5.1 to7.5.2.
As a procedure we have taken the backup of uvconfig, dsenv and other related files. If we are upgrading the server from 7.5.1 to 7.5.2 and if we want to come back again to 7.5.1 .is there any method available?

Please let me know

Only uninstall and install the lower version. You may be able to import 7.5.2 jobs into 7.5.1 but, in general, importing from a higher version into a lower version doesn't work.

Hi Ray,
thanks for the information,

We used to edit the .developer.admin files for our security. When upgrading will the entries in the .devloper.admin file get erased?

Thanks

Why take a chance? Backup anything like that you've edited and care about just in case.

Hi,

Thanks for ur reply,

We are doing a upgradation test on a server B .We are taking the projects from a server A and server A has got lot projects. The normal way of doing it is taking an export of projects in dsx format from server A and importing it in server B.

Is there any other way of doing it ?

Thanks

Actually, the 'normal' way in my experience is an 'upgrade in place' where the new software is installed right over the top of the existing software. Is server B installed with the 'old' version and projects?

Hi ,

The server B is the same version and before upgrading the development server A we wanted to give the users to test the server B with a upgraded version with the same projects in server A.is there any way to copy the projects form server A to server B iwthout using any export or import functions.

Thanks in advance

No, nothing official. Export and Import is painless and just pretty much runs on its own, why try to circumvent the process? It's only time, after all...
