Mainframe file landed on Unix afterFTP-packed field handling

Hello

I have a file which is genarated on Mainframe.(is there any special method to for generation like Binary file).. after FTP the file landed to my unix machine can any one tell how to handle the packed filed in while i am using in datastage PX ....will complex flat file able to handle ??

can any one come up with some good example

any help will be highly appriciated
