DataStage Guru's ,
I have been working on Datastage Server for past 1 yr. I just installed the PX on windows XP. And am not able to make any breakthrough-Forget about running Jobs, I am unable to even view data from any of the stages. In Oracle stage it says I need to have sys.dba_extent access, in sequential stage it says: parameter specified but not used in flow: DSProjetcMapName.
However I have been able to import meta data for these stages.
Please Help
Setting for Running Jobs on newly Installed PX on windows XP

One issue at a time please. You need to fully understand the requirements with using PX, especially as it relates to the databases. If you're just learning PX, you need to spend some time looking at the stage documentation in the manuals, as a sequential file stage to Server is vastly different that the PX version. Data typing is absolutely enforced in PX, so you're in for a rude awakening if you're used to dealing with dirty data.
DSX offers a Server to PX transition course that I highly recommend. You're going to need to research and learn, as PX is not a sit-down-crack-open-the-box tool.
If you're learning on your own, start with the basics. Create a simple text file and try to get PX to read it and write out a new text file. We'll help you if you get stuck. Save the databases until you've gotten that portion working. Good luck.

You don't have the correct permissions within the Oracle Database.thespecialist wrote: In Oracle stage it says I need to have sys.dba_extent access
Are you running an NLS server install?thespecialist wrote: in sequential stage it says: parameter specified but not used in flow: DSProjetcMapName.

Are you running an NLS server install?
No I am not running NLS installation.
I agree that I need more permissions for Oracle stage.
Reg' Sequential stage- I have been able to view data, but not been able to compile It is showing error in the transforemer.
I have installed the Datastage on drive: G . will that cause any problems?
I shall paste the log later.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Did you install the following C++ compiler?
The buildop and transformer stages in the Ascential DataStage Enterprise Edition on Windows require that the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 C++ compiler be installed on the conductor node. The compiler must be present before installing DataStage Enterprise Edition.
Without the C++ compiler, you get transformer stage error.

I did have a C compiler before Datastage installation but that was sitting in C: drive. And Datastage is installed on G: drive. Would that cause any problems ?lstsaur wrote:Hi,

Any ways I can uninstall everything, install Visual Studio 2003 followed by Datastage installation. But I want to make sure that I do it the right way this time.
