running PX on a Windows Platform

Post by gbusson »

Hi all,

and happy new year!

I would like to know what are the requirements to install and run PX on a windows environment.

Which version does allow this feature?

What are the requirements (hardware and software?)

thanks.

That's definitely minimum! I'd recommend not less than 1GB RAM, more is better. More than one CPU is better also. Multiple disk drives (not drive letters) is also good.
I would not use Windows for production DataStage EE.

OK. I've heard about other special requirements, like special libraries, or other tools to make it work (you have to install a C++ compiler).

Which tool is OK? Visual Studio? Is there any other tool to install?

You do need Visual Studio and the only other requirment, the MKS toolkit, is installed with the product.

If you don't need custom buildops you can skate by. Minimum requires to get it to run were listed, but to do all the things you would want to do requires more. It's not really the right platform for significant processing. It's like try to see if you can run Windoze XP on a Pentium III. Yeah it runs, but does it run well?
