Installation Process for IIS 8.7

Post by vikibemech »

Hi, we have a empty Unix box and need to install Datastage V 8.7. I had a look into many IBM sites for the process to be followed but didnt get the info that I want (as a leyman). Can any one please let me know the steps to be followed for successfull installation. I am expecting info like
1. metadata db installation
2. Fil directory setup, etc..
The order of steps to be followed for installation. Thanks in Advance

You should have an "Installation and Configuration Guide" in pdf format. Worst case you can download it from IBM. I'd start there. If you have that and still didn't get "the info you want" let us know what that specific information is.

Some basic gotchas:

/tmp needs to be about 5GB to be safe.

root needs at least 10240 nofiles (see ulimit)

Don't get too fancy in your .profile (obviously no prompting).

Get all of your user ids and passwords according to the documentation lined up.

make dsadm a local user id first (you can convert it back to ldap later if you use ldap).

The PDF is your guide.

If you are installing Information Server and it appears to be your first install... why go for 8.7 and not 11.3? You're already 3 releases back if you do that.
