Hi

We curently run on IBM InfoSphere Information Server V9.1.2.0
Should we upgrade to 11.3? Is it a big issue converting datasatge jobs from one to the other?
What is the benefits`, news highlights og 11.3 in respect of 9.1.2?
Any downside? bugfix?

Hope for some input?

One VERY major item to consider for using 11.3 is the use of Data Lineage with the Information Governance Catalog for all of your DataStage Jobs and other assets. The administration, lineage methodology, rendering performance and functionality (inclusion of filters, html-5 instead of flash, etc.) improvements are HUGE.

...and you don't need to start running your Jobs on 11.3 to take advantage of this. Get started with 11.3....working with the governance capabilities (glossary too!)....import your Jobs there and even your Operational Metadata....and start doing lineage, even as you work "towards" the QA and migration of your Jobs to the 11.3 environment.

There are certainly other reasons to consider 11.3, but governance is a biggie, and can also allow you to take advantage while not necessarily (yet) migrating the running of your Jobs.

One biggie is the fact that only HTTPS is supported for various kinds of connections, including connecting clients. Once you've nailed the new URLs (with new port numbers and HTTPS as the protocol), you'll probably need to update your browser Favorites too!
You should set up key files (for https) for each user, which is tedious but saves them having to accept certificates for many tasks.
Once you're in, however, single signon makes use of the various browser-based clients rather easier.
