Pwd issue for PACK for SAP BW

Knowledge Sharing - Mods, feel free to move this post to whereever it may fit
We have found that some special characters cannot be used in teh SAP Log on details in the DS Admin for SAP
When using these, the BW will not translate these correctly, and the data transfer will not take place.
No useful error message is created however.

We just got the following:
TRANS1 is not cataloged
and
RfcErrorInfo.key: RfcErrorInfo.message (group 104)

So far the characters # * and ? have been identified.
