Installing repository dbs remotely vs locally

Hi Can you please suggest

we are planning to install repository dbs for IIS 8.7 and 11.3 .
we are in debate whether to install repository databases locally or with other dataware house databases.

please provide your expert sugesstion what are the benefits and drawbacks to install repo dbs locally and

what are the benefits and drawbacks to install repo dbs remotely to IIS server.

Tell us how fast the network is between where you propose to install the engines and where the databases are. That will be the main consideration.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for responding.

We have decided to install repository db locally to avoid any network delay.

I will installing service tier , engine and repository tier on the same linux red hat server.

Good call. That's why I asked the question. If you had elected to use a remote database, I would have advised strongly to use a dedicated, very high speed network segment.
