Section "Configuring the environment for the Big Data File stage" of link states that
InfoSphere Information Server must be installed on a Linux operating system.
Is there a workaround to configure environment for BigData File Stage, when IIS is installed on Solaris?

Seems to me that would be a support question.

Thanks. We had sent this query to IBM.

IBM's response is
Unfortunately the documented limitation you referenced is accurate. The BDFS stage is currently only available when the engine tier is installed on the Linux platform.

We do not yet have a timetable for when this capability will be added to additional platforms.

Folks,

One of the ETL guys here was able to secure a patch from IBM that allowed him to create a DS 9.1.2 job in AIX that connected to HDFS.

We have just checked with IBM ... BDFS is not available on Solaris yet. For read only operations, JDBC/HIVE interface can be utilized.
