Infosphere Information Server Re-Install

Hi All,
DS 8.7 on Windows 2008 R2 Exterprise
What are the Imp points to be considered before Re-Installation?
We are currently in DEV phase and plan to back up the existing Project (and all relevant components) so we could import that back, post reinstallation.
Do we have to Drop the XMeta DB (Metadata Repository DB) created as part of the install (on SQL Server 2008) as the reinstall will still be using the same Database to create XMeta?
We also have the Operations Console DB (DSODB) installed, does this also have to be dropped or we can reuse this (on same SQL Server 2008)
We have to Reinstall to a shared network drive as current Install location is not being backed up!
