Installing DataStage client 7.1, 7.5.1 and 8.7 in Windows 7

Post by satyaatibm »

Hi,

Is it possible to install DS 7.1, 7.5.1 and 8.7 clients in one Windows 7 64-bit machine. If yes, then is there anything special needs to be done to make everything (7.1, 7.5.1 and 8.7) work fine without any issue using multi-client manager??

Welcome aboard.

For starters, version 7.x is a purely 32-bit application - you need to be aware of that. They are also of an age that their installation is not supported on Windows 7 (which did not exist at the time).

Hi I understand that.. But Our client still using the older versions in PROD and slowly migrating to new versions. So, I need to have all 3 versions in stalled in my Windows 7 laptop so that anytime I can work with any version till everything will be migrated to 8.7.

If you really want to be able to support your client across old DS client versions like that, I would suggest you either dual-boot to XP or if you have Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise you can download Windows XP Mode for free.

Of course, you could always just try it and see if you have any issues. Make sure there is no 'overlap' between the install locations.
