Is there a way to search across projects for specific items

Is there a way to search across projects in 8.7 for specific items or do you have to be inside a specific project to search? I am a admin for our company and am green on alot of the functionality datastage provides. any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What kind of search you need to perform?
Metadata workbench would be a good option

You can use Information Server Manager search function. This search is against all the projects on that server; but you cannot search against projects on different server.
