One of the world's worst kept secrets emerged today, as InfoSphere Information Server v9.1 was announced to the world at IOD 2012.

The formal announcement will be on 23/10/2012 (US Pacific time) and expected GA date is in December 2012.

More news as it comes to hand.

Yeah, we got a mail from our client(IBM) that they have released DataStage 9.1 at IBM Information On Demand 2012 - Global Conference @ Las Vegas 8)
Version 9.1 includes a series of advancements that would increase organization's productivity, optimize the integration execution, and accelerate the data governance agenda.

How delightfully non-specific!

Hopefully someone will have some gory details they can post.

Vincent McBurney has produced an excellent post summarising what's new in version 9.1 on his blog:

Vincent's blog mentions that 9.1 doesn't have the chopper/slicer plugin, so no fries yet...still have to use a custom appliance :( Maybe in FP1?

Vincent obviously didn't max out his IOD schedule attending presentations, usability sandbox sessions and hands-on labs like I did. ;)

Vincent will have to live with his lack of forsight Ray.

He also did not attend my speach. I am not sure why he would make such a career limiting move, but oh well.

;)

Julian fries is the logical extension of Julian dates, though why they replaced the dates with potatoes only the design team can answer.

If you went to IOD then you can access the DataStage 9.1 and What's New in Information Server 9.1 through the SmartSite - both presentations are available for download. I will be adding the screenshots and details in blog posts over the next couple days.

I have now posted a list of all the published enhancements: Governance and DataStage Big Winners in Information Server 9.1. When I had product demos there were some small enhancements not covered by the presentations. This post covers DataStage, Information Analyzer, Metadata Workbench, QualityStage and Discovery. There were some improvements to Blueprint Director but I don't have the complete list.

There was no mention of FastTrack - I believe this is because FastTrack will be merged into DataStage in a future release.
