Hi,

I want to learn datastage.I have 8.5 version installed on my machine.
Can someone please help me with the roadmap as how to learn...what all areas to focus upon while learning datastage....what should be the way...which book/tutorial to refer to.
If there is any checklist, that would be great.

Regards,

Arun

Hi Arun,

Welcome to the Datastage Family. I would suggest you start with IBM red book which will give you hands on experience.

Thanks,
Ram

1) Designer guide
2) Parallel Job developer guide
3) Director Guide
4) Administrator Guide - gives good understanding for developers
5) Parallel Job advanced developer guide

Take some training, from an organization like PR3 or IBM. Do an internet search for "DataStage training" to find other providers, but we cannot - for obvious reasons, recommend any one over another.

Late on replying to the thread, but wanted to share my views.
In the video below Ray says its important to learn with a mentor, which i believe is most important aspect of learning to work with the tool.

I have been struggling for that, but thanks to dsxchange im able to learn everyday.

In addition to what others have stated above, I recommend attending the IBM Information On Demand conference which is held every October in Las Vegas. There are some very good DataStage-specific sessions at this conference, plus opportunities to learn about the other Information Server products. You might even get to meet some of the DataStage gurus like Ray and Ernie...
