Reading from a PDF file

Hi,
I came to know that we can read a PDF document through PDF converters using filter command in sequential file stage but never tried. Does anybody tried implementing the same? If yes, could you please share more about the process to acheive this.
Also is it possible to write into a PDF file through the job?
