All,

I would like to know the core usage of UV account. say for example, without this account, we can't do something.

I hope to unlock the jobs, we have to login into UV account. right?

Wrong.

The UV account is the location of the "system tables" for the DataStage engine, but you don't necessarily need to log in to that account to unlock jobs.

do you mean VOC and DS_ tables ?

No. These are not system tables. Indeed the DS_ and RT_ tables do not occur in the UV account. I mean system tables such as UV_SCHEMA, UV_TABLES, UV_USERS, UV.ACCOUNT.

UV accounts = DataStage projects and the "UV account" is an internal one. You don't need to LOG TO any UV account/project to unlock jobs.

It seems like we will log into UV account in two ways.

LOGTO UV

or

CONNECT localuv

right?

Going back to my oruginal question,

what exactly is the usage of UV account? say for example we can't perform something without this account.

Wrong. CONNECT localuv connects to the project itself, not to the UV account. And it locks you into a DataStage/SQL environment.

There's at least one thing you can't do without the UV account, and it's a biggie.

Without the UV account you can't start DataStage. Recall that the UV account contains its system tables, including records of the existence and locations of projects.

Yes..it's the core.. something similar to kernel in unix like systems.
