Why datastage tool is accessible in CITRIX environment and why we are not using any other environment?
Any particular reason to use citrix environment??

Hi,
As far as I understand,
You are refering to things unique in your organization!
There is no direct need to use citrix as far as the tool is concerned.

Thanks Roy.

Actually I am new to datastage. I don't have clear picture about the environments. Den means could you please tell me few environment names in which ETL can be accessed?

Windows Server
Linux (Red Hat or SuSE)
AIX
HP-UX
Solaris
Linux on mainframe (zSeries)

You could have discovered these yourself by looking at IBM website.

It used to be that DataStage was not supported on a Citrix system. I'm not sure if this is still the case or not. But if errors were encountered, you would have to recreate those in a supported environment (no Citrix).

Hmmm... we used DataStage 7.x on Citrix back in the day. One thing to note, however, is it was just for the client software and we never had any issues with it.

I'm in a Citrix DataStage shop.

We kinda had to go that way because of our own internal politics.

Version 8.0.1 of the tool was in the house before we deployed out 8.1 tool. 8.0.1 was deployed to everyone's workstation. Because of the deployment process the internal rules said that you could not deploy the same tool with a different version (file collision reasons). This was also before the day of the multi client manager.

So we basically had to go Citrix with our 8.1 Client side code.

It worked out pretty good. Some stuff didn't work (resource estimator come to mind). But it worked out good.

Internal rules still prevent us from going direct to the workstations because 8.0.1 is still around.

Thanks to all.

Now I got clear idea about why we are using citrix environment for datastage 8.1.
