Hi,

With IBM releasing InfoSphere 8.7, is this the right forum to ask question.

With release of Datastage 8.7, how does it makes it different from other leaders like Informatica?

Thanks
Ketfos

You can read the whitepaper about 8.7 so that you come to know how it makes difference. You can find the link somewhere in this forum.

There is not a lot that separates DataStage and Information PowerCenter in terms of an ETL tool. They are probably the two best ETL tools on the market and it is a matter of personal preferences as to which one is better.

Where IBM has an advantage over competitors is in the other tools in the suite - as of 8.7 IBM is ahead on data quality rules. The ability to share a data quality rule between Information Analyzer, DataStage, QualityStage and Business Glossary is unique and makes the best ETL rules engine available. In 8.7 it becomes a lot easier to make validation rules transparent to users.

IBM is ahead in the Business Glossary - version 8.7 has the best user interface so far, though Informatica have blatantly copied the IBM Business Glossary in look and feel so I don't know how they compare.

IBM Asset Manager in 8.7 is a class leading metadata snapshot tool for cross product impact analysis of incoming metadata changes. It's the best impact analysis tool in Information Server so far.

There's not really any other way you can present a list of terms, their definitions and other characteristics!
