Folder to Folder copy in Designer client

Post by mouthou »

Hi All,

I have many folders in Designer client. I need to move the jobs from those folders to a different location. Is there an option to move the entire folder (along with the jobs inside) to a different folder. Please let me know. Any workaround/clue would help.

Thanks

Export the dsx, change and import it.

You cannot move folders. You can, however, multi-select all the objects in a folder and drag-and-drop them to a different folder.

Thanks Ray and Sura. Selecting and dragging the jobs is what I have been doing. It has been bit painful to do that, especially when there are multiple subfolders.

I am not sure about the workaround which Sura was suggesting, which could the multi level sub folders case.

Thanks

Export dsx file.

open the dsx file, there you find one line like

Category "\\Jobs\\xx\\yy"

edit that path based on your requirement and import them.

Be very careful if you take this "edit the dsx" route to change job categories. One slip of the editor and the import can destroy your project. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
