For Unix installation- windows client project

We had an Unix Sun Solaris installation of Information server 8.1 with DB2 repository on Unix. Is it possible to create a Datastage project on client machine independently with out loading the repository to Unix Server and use Oracle driver installed on the client machine to connect to ORACLE database?What i want to know,Is it possible to avoid server for temporary work around?
