Kernel parameters are specific to your operating system. Go have a chat with your SysAdmin.

Kernel parameters control the operating system and the resources that it can provide to applications. They may be stored in one file, they may be stored in several files - it depends on which kind of UNIX you're running.

But however they're stored, you can be fairly certain that they're only accessible to the superuser.

So do discuss with your SysAdmin, the only one with that access.

The Internet has all the information you'd ever need, make use of your search engine of choice. As noted, your System Administrator is the only one capable of actually making any changes, you'd have to get this by them first. Go talk to them.
