I am not able to view any job names in the repository. I can view the folders and when I expand those, I can view the job Short description but not the job name. DataStage Client is v8.1

Can you see job names using Director client?

Yes I can..The issue is only in Designer.

I can see the Default Folder Tree inside the project...i mean the system folders such as Jobs, Transforms, Routines etc..But I am not able to view the names of sub folders that I create manually inside one of the above mentioned system folders.Neither can I see the job names inside such sub folders. Just the icons for folders/jobs as the case may be...or if there is a short description for jobs, I can see that..but not the actual job/folder name

Additionally, i can compile the jobs and run them as well...It is only that the job names are not displayed..For jobs which have no short description, i can see just the red colored icon which denotes Parallel job..But that is when I go to Detailed View

Create a copy of the same job in the designer and compile it. I guess, you would be able to see the job in the director too.

Learn patience. Some of us need to sleep occasionally, or earn a living. Or both (but not at the same time.)

Have you re-indexed the local Repository?

I have not tried this one..Not sure how to go about that.

I have tried stopping and restarting engine but it did not resolve the issue.

Found this post while searching for a solution to the same problem. Found the solution so posting it for others for future reference.

Some people in my place had a similar problem (usually with fresh installs). Must be the default view for new versions.

- Enable the 'Detailed Repository View' option (View menu)
- Right click in the right hand side of the 'Repository' window.
- Choose 'View' -> 'List' option
- Disable the 'Detailed Repository View' option again
