Couple of clarifications about DataStage mechanics...

Post by vivekgadwal »

Gurus,

I have a couple of questions in order to get some clarity on the tool.
*Edited this question 1 to remove some unnecessary stuff*
Question - 1)
<Job Name>.fifo file: Does this get created every time a process/job runs? In other words, can someone delete this and then start running the job once again without any problem?

Question-2)
Performance difference between a Connector and API stage: We are a DB2 shop and had DB2 stages all over the place. Some of the jobs were running real slow (5-6 hours). Then somebody modified these into ODBC connector stages and they started running very fast (15-20 minutes). What is the difference under the covers for this radical change in performance? I tried to read the ODBC connector documentation and it just says it uses ODBC drivers to connect and the only difference between this and the ODBC stage is the better UI.
ODBC is usually slower than the native drivers correct?

Can somebody please clarify these questions for me?

Thanks! :)
