I would like to know what kind of informations existing in the File &PH&? :?:

Communication area for the "PHantom" (background) processes all jobs run as. They're just text files, poke around and see for yourself what's in them.

They don't contain a lot - but if you do have a process core dump or SIGSEGV abort they'll usually be the only place with the error code captured.

Please note - the directory should be emptied periodically when nothing is running in the project! Otherwise you'll have severe performance impacts starting up jobs as it chases its way to the end of a 10K+ filename chain to add the next file.

and no - for some silly reason they are never cleared out by the system...

In addition to the above said
In any case that your job crashes with little to no reason in the logs, reset that job using the DS Director and if there is any information in the &PH& job's-run log it will pop up as a "from previous run(...)" log entry in one or more of the reset entries of that job in the director (saving you the trouble of manually looking for it)

What Roy suggests is more likely to happen in server jobs than in parallel jobs, and is guaranteed for neither.
