Hi..

I have gone thru the thread attached..
I read as something as below
"All carriers will have an "email address" for your phone"

Wat does "carrier" mean?
Is it going to be cost effective??

Also I have come across different email adrress as below in the link attached in thread:

T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
Cingular: phonenumber@cingularme.com
Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com

Can you pls tell me when are we supposed to opt for a particular email address??

Thanks & Regards
Sheela.P

"Carrier" is a company that offers a telephony service. The six names you mentioned are all carriers.

"Cost effective" is a subjective assessment. Typically the justification goes something like "we have to send SMS messages, and there's no other convenient way to do so."

There's also the consideration if your carrier will charge your account for each SMS received or if they are free.

What country are you in? It would surely not be terribly difficult for you to contact the providers in your country and ask them.

There's no one answer, from what I've seen it can depend on the 'service plan' or contract you have with the carrier. It's typically bundled free nowadays but I wouldn't take that for granted.
