There are so many old files lying in the /local/data1/IBM/InformationServer/Server/Datasets and they are huge.. the total size of this directory is 48G , will this cause a performance issue? What is the actual use of this directory. Can you please help me out here.
If I delete these files , would I do any harm to the system.

These are the data files associated with YOUR Data Sets. It's your decision about whether or not they're still needed.
Tip: don't delete them directly. Use the Data Set Management tool or the orchadmin command to delete them, so that you don't leave orphans hanging around.
