iNTRINSIC cONVERSION

iN MY JOB,
I LKP THE LKP TABLE WITH THE PRIMARY TABLE ,WITH STORE AS THE KEY COLUMN IN LKP TABLE & LKP_NO IN THE PRIMARY TABLE.
bOTH THIS COLUMN ARE IN SAME DATA TYPE,{CHAR(4),USTRING},
BUT WHILE RUNNING, I GOT AN ERROR IN INTRINSIC CONVERSION
i COULDNOT UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION...WHAT WAS WRONG IN IT?
ANYONE PLEASE CLARIFY ME ASAP,

a) Please don't use just uppercase - it is considered shouting
b) Using "ASAP" usually means that you get a slower answer since this is a forum staffed by volunteers.
c) Please post the exact error message

Please post the precise data type of both input columns and of any output columns derived from either.
