Luncheon Webinar - IBM IOD Conference Update questions

Post by chulett »

Thought I might start things off and other attendees could add questions that they didn't ask during the webinar.

On the topic of 'New/Enhanced stages', you mentioned the Pivot stage and the fact that it is now truly parallel. I was curious if they had added support for both 'directions' yet - vertical and horizontal pivots - or is that already out there and I just don't know it, being the 7.5 Luddite that I am?

Thanks!

Yes, New OR Enhanced was the heading. Pivot stage has been enhanced (though one presentation had it as new). Still horizontal only, still "watch this space" for vertical pivot".

Thanks. I thought I'd heard least year at IOD that that functionality was coming in 8.1... guess that's still in the pipeline. Or I'm misremembering. Or both.

Ray,

You have told about Column Level impact analysis, in the webinar. if we have license only for Datastage, whether we will be able to access this information or do we need to get Metada Work bench license for getting this information?

You will not need Metadata Workbench. Impact analysis is provided through the metadata analysis service of Information Server.

The DataStage impact analysis will show you where the column is used in DataStage, Workbench will show where that column is used across products - databases and BI reports.
