Error: Laufzeitfehler '1000': Invalid action when bound

Hallo,
I get the runtime error message "Invalid action when bound"
- in "Designer" for example if I open the "Output" folder of an "Seqential File Stage"
- in "Administrator" if I press the "Environment..." button.

"Administrator" aborts immediately, "Designer" raises the error:
"(40503) A call to an OLE server has failed, or a runtime error occured within the OLE server itself.". No further action in designer is possible...

After reinstalling Client 7.1 the error ist resolved, but only until the next restart of my OS. After a restart of the Client (Windows 2000, SP 4) the same error occurs again.

Who can help me? Thank you and best regards!!!

Martin,

can you check to see which actions are performed on your PC at startup?
One of the causes of these automation errors in Windows is if a DLL is overwritten. If you have some enterprise type of software control it might "detect" some DataStage library as being invalid or older and overwrite it during boot; this would explain why a reinstall of your client solves the problem but it re-appears again when restarting.

Meanwhile I Know, which software causes the error:

it exactely happens, if
SAP GUI 6.40 Patchlevel 8
is installed.
If I deinstall SAP GUI, the errror is resolved.

I tried to DeInstall Datastage by completely cleaning up the registry. But after the ReInstall, the error occured again...

I couldn't find the file(s) which are responsible for the incompatibility.

Any idea? Thanks!
