Yes, of course you need to request/install the AIX version.

Hi,

Here is the AIX information:

Version: 5.3
64-bit

Can the existing DS software that is installed in solaris be used on AIX box? Will there be any compatible issues?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Ray and Chulett. We have contacted IBM and they have provided us a link where we can load AIX 5.3 version of Datastage as DS 7.5 server edition works on AIX 5.3 version only.

Meanwhile we started preparing installation steps for the migration of the datastage from solaris to AIX.

During installation on AIX, we plan to do a clean installation on that server with the same folder structures similar to Solaris.

/Ascential/DataStage/

Under DataStage folder, we have branded_odbc/DSEngine/Logfiles/Projects/Template/ud41

I guess these folders will be automatically created during installation in the AIX version and also no need to replace any of the files in these folders from the solaris version DS other than dsenv,.odbc.ini,uvodbc.config file.

Please advise.

Thanks

The DataStage install on AIX will be very similar to the one on Solaris - it will have many of the same directories and the ODBC drivers. If you use ODBC drivers you should copy your uvodbc and .odbc.ini files across. Have you sorted out your compiler? You cannot use the Solaris compiler on AIX and the AIX compiler requires concurrent or named user licenses. You will need a compiler if you use parallel jobs with a transformer.

Thanks for a swift response. We have already requested a AIX version of datastage software. I guess it will have AIX compiler in it. Please correct me if i am wrong.

It won't. You'll need to check if the AIX server has a supported C++ compiler on it and if not, purchase one.

Hi,

Do we need C++ compiler even if we are using server jobs?
Please clarify.

Thanks

No, if you only run Server jobs you'll be fine without one.

Kernel settings on AIX are different from those on Solaris. Check the installation manual for details.

Ray,

We already requested UNIX admin team to change the Kernel settings as per the instruction manual. Thanks for your valuable information!

Ray,

I just started installing th DS tool on AIX version, but i am getting the following error message:
./install.sh [22]: /Datastage_7.5.1A/Ascential.media/aix/server.: cannot open
ERROR: cannot unpack libdslic.so

I have executed chmod 777 permission for server and still it is throwing the same error. Please advise.

Thanks

Only your support provider/IBM can help you with that.

Thanks Ray. Is there any specific reason why we encounter these kind of errors?

Thanks
Sue
