After creating a package of just executables in our DEV project (all parallel jobs) the package was successfully deployed to our TEST project using ISM. To move to MODEL, which is on a different server, we are first required to send the package to the LAN where the DS Admin attempted to deploy the package from.
The deployment to MODEL failed for all elements and the executables were deleted first as the status of the jobs is Not Compiled. To resolve this the designs were added to the package but I would like to know why the first package failed. Searching the forum it does appear that other shops move just executables so hoping for some direction here.
Thanks
Dick
After investigating further the package did NOT deploy successfully to TEST, the developer recompiled when the deployment failed. We don't have a C++ compiler in MODEL so that wasn't an option. I suspect that if executables and designs both exist there is a link between the two that must be maintained. If that is true then deploying only executables is a function to be used by shops that don't allow designs outside of DEV (or maybe TEST). Close?
Package of executables only failed
