Backups/Restore

Post by Niv0599 »

Hello,

Before an outage, we take tar backups of filesystems that change after installs (Projects/WAS/IS folders) and it takes few many hours to do this depending on the server and project sizes

Wish to see how this backup situation is handled by others, especially when the outage window is small.

Thanks for your answers.

Correct me if i am wrong here, Generally we take backups (tar backups with root user) when we are applying any patches on Datastage application.

By using the Tar command you can eliminate the unwanter directories. Try it

Thanks

Yes we take tar backs with root id on folders that change after installs.

Typically Projects, AppServer and InformtaionServer as 3 different tar files.

The issue we face is it takes too long specifically AppServer tars, trying to find ways to make it fast. I am not aware of excluding subfolders within these
folders mentioned above.
