Websphere Application Server - Datastage Migration

Post by nvalia »

Hi All,

When migrating from existing Datastage v7.5 env to Infosphere v9.1.2 (fresh install on new hardware), is there anything on the Websphere App Server that needs to be considered as part of this migration?

I believe WAS will get installed during the Infoshere Information Server Install but do we have to migrate/copy anything from 7.5 to 9.1.2?

Thanks,
VN

Yes.

Obviously you will want to export/import all your design work.

If you've customised project properties, remember/record how they are set so that you can replicate these in the new environment.

If you've created hashed files manually you will need to do that in the new environment.

If you're using key management of any kind, you will need to synchronize your 'next available key' values as part of the switch over.

In the short term you will need to implement your database connections in the new environment, in the longer term you should consider changing to use Data Connections and Connector stage types.
