9.1 has been out for quite a while and is very stable. It is also the latest release and has the most features.

Try using the latest fixpack for 9.1 from start.

Datastage 9.1.2 was launched in last quarter of 2013 and seems to be stable. It has patches for 9.1 rolledin.

If you are planning to install in next couple of months (or greater) or see any need of any the new features, then it will be a good idea to go for 9.1.2.

Thanks Andy Sorrell , Priyadarshi Kunal , rkashyap. Need one more help. For 9.1.2, which OS will be best. Windows or AIX? For IBM Cognos Datamanager we had windows based installation, but not sure which OS will be better for Datastage.

Sometimes there are variations in DataStage features, based on operating system eg BDFS was initially launched only for linux and is now available for AIX also. These variations are not really highlighted in any of the product demonstrations/ sales presentations and are easy to overlook. Do ask these questions from your sales representative and ensure that the flavor meets your business needs.
Personally I prefer Linux.

Kush, you also have to think about your growth.

Do you consider yourself a BIG shop that may need to go GRID, or will an 8 core box do you just fine...

Research that question before you architect your environment.

Personally I would also shy away from the Windows environment but it does have it's uses, even if it is used as a point of reference: "Well at least it's running better than it would have under Windows..."

Don't even bother with a 32bit OS anymore.

You need to talk to your company Hardware support team, if you're a pure Windows shop and nobody has any AIX support structure in place... kinda help define your answer for you.

I think you get more CPU for your buck with Linux.
