Failed to authenticate the current user against the selected

Post by satyaatibm »

Hi,

While I am trying to connect to Designer Client its showing me the error message "Failed to authenticate the current user against the selected Services Tier" but at the same time I am able to connect to Director Client.

Trying to connect to DS through Windows 7 64-bit machine.

Thanks in Advance for your response to this issue. :)

It means you haven't setup the engine credentials for the user-id. That can be done via the web admin console.

Actually there's really only one reason. This is failure to authenticate against the Services tier. It means that the user name/password combination cannot be checked - maybe LDAP authentication (if that's what's being used) is not configured correctly, or the user registry is not available.

I have seen the same error when the port was incorrectly specified. I think its the second line you see in the message helps in deciding the actual error whether the error was due to incorrect datastage password, incorrect credential mapping or incorrect port.

PS: I just verified it on my 8.5 installation. the same error message in all 3 scenarios, the second line tells it all.
