How to Check old job log

Post by gooogle »

Since datastage only keeps log for a couple of days, is there anyway to go back & check the job log from a particular day in last month ?

Actually, it keeps logs for as far back as you allow it to. Don't forget you also have a Filter when you view that may be restricting you to only seeing the last few days. However, once logs have been purged (either automatically or manually) they are gone.

That is the primary reason so many people here are looking for ways to automate the extraction and archiving of log information into say, a relational database... and why Kim Duke is such a popular guy.

Any idea where I can go as you mentioned "as far back" & also change the "filter" to see more logs.
Thanks chulett

Not sure about the new console tools but the Director has a "Filter..." entry on the menu or you can press Ctrl-T to open up the Filter dialogue box. There are several different criteria available but the basic one is the number of entries to show - the last 100 lines, for example.

As to how many are stored, that would depend on if you have Auto Purge enabled. That can be set to only keep the last N days of log entries or the last N runs of a job. As noted before, however, once they are purged they are gone... as in gone gone.
