SMTP Server in Data Stage

Post by sjordery »

Hi All,

Is there a setting in Datastage that determines the smtp mail server?
Any file which we can edit to specify a new smtp server name?

Thanks,
Sjordery

That's all handled by the O/S, talk to your System Administrator.

Do you mean that SMTP Server used to send mails from Job Sequences? There you can't change anything but need to give the SMTP Gateway for sending/relaying mails.

Unless something has changed, you only needed to give the gateway on a Windows server... for UNIX it can be left empty. Assuming we're talking about the Notification Activity stage here.

Hi Craig, Arndw,

Yes I meant the Sequence job notification activity stage where we specify the smtp server name. I have a requirement to change the smtp server name so that mails from data stage server are relayed by the new smtp server instead of the old one. Even I change or leave blank the smtp server name in the notification activity , it still uses the old smtp.

Is the new smtp name to be added to any OS file which data stage refers to?

Regards,
Sjordery.

I think on UNIX you would need to edit the "dssendmail_template.txt" file in your project folder to have the SMTP-Server included, and you would need to check the syntax of the "sendmail" command as well.

Actually, start with "sendmail" for your UNIX version to make sure that this is even possible.

Still suggest you bring your SysAdmin into the conversation, if you haven't yet.
