Notification stage not working

Having a problem sending emails using the Notification Stage from a particular project. The Sequences run fine until they hit a Notification Stage, there they just hang. Created a sequence with only a Notification Stage and it also hangs.
Was able to create a sequence and send email from a different project on the server.

did you check dssendmail.txt in the project directory?

Is it identical to the file with same name in the project where it is working?

If there is no dssendmail.txt then check for dssendmail_template.txt (or something similar).

Compared dssendmail_template.txt from each project. They are identical. There isn't a dssendmail.txt in either project.

dssendmail_template.txt will be identical as it is created by default and dssendmail.txt is used to override that.

Second question would be, Are you running the jobs in both project with same user or mapped to same unix user credential?

Same user id was used to start both sequences.

How long are you waiting before you decide that the Notification activity has hung? It can take as long as a minute or two.

Started yesterday. Suspected the Notification Stage because previous logs for the same sequence that ran successful have entries like:

BackupProjectsToLAN..JobControl (@EndLoop): Loop finished
BackupProjectsToLAN..JobControl (DSSendMail): Sent message to
BackupProjectsToLAN..JobControl (@Coordinator): Summary of sequence run
Finished Job BackupProjectsToLAN.

The sequence is now hung with the last entry being:
BackupProjectsToLAN..JobControl (@EndLoop): Loop finished

Any sequence in the project that encounters a Notification Stage hangs. This one and a test sequence that has only a Notification Stage have been hanging for 3+ hours.

DS Admin wants to re-index the project in the morning. Assume he wants to do so then because fewer users to interrupt.

Check that your SMTP mail client is OK and that the mail server is up and running.

This is affecting only 1 project on the server. Emails from other projects run without any problem.

Update - re-indexing the project didn't help.

Will set up a new project and use a weekly backup of the project to import the jobs etc.

Set up a new project.

DS Admin is trying to figure out why the Notification Stage will not execute. Should this get resolved I will update.
