dscompinst: cannot execute binary file

dscompinst: cannot execute binary file

Hello DS Gurus,

I recently installed DataStage 8.5 on RedHat Linux successfully. When I try to install FP 1 I get the error below
/tmp/script35515.sh: line 3: /ps/dsadm/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSComponents/bin/dscompinst: cannot execute binary file
I tried manually running the command in the terminal and here's what I get:
In KSH
/ps/dsadm/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSComponents/bin> ./dscompinst
./dscompinst: ./dscompinst: cannot execute [Exec format error]

In BASH
/ps/dsadm/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSComponents/bin> . dscompinst
-bash: .: dscompinst: cannot execute binary file
I got this error after the update ran for more than half an hour in verbose mode. Finally I was prompted with :

What would you like to do next?
Options:
1. Retry failed step.
2. Skip this operation and continue the installation.
3. Abort installation immediately.

I'm assuming this executable file is corrupt. If my assumption is right then how/from where can I replace this file? If my assumption is wrong what can I do to fix this?

It must be corrupted, unless it's simply lacking execute permissions. Did you run the update as the root user? I would double check all instructions were followed and if so, then contact support with the error.

Thanks for your reply. I ran the update as the root user. The file has execute permissions on user, groups and others.

This was resolved by downloading the installation files again and reinstalling IIS 8.5.
