Error in unistalling, failed installation process

Post by esivaprasad »

Hi,

while installing 8.5 in graphical/webconsole mode,

we selected the following tools

Infosphere datastage
infosphere quality stage
infospehere business glossary
infosphere business glossary any where
metadata work bench
information services director

Upto IBM infosphere datastage projects page, installation no problem and i got failure in checking system requirements check page.the error and failed message are below

"FAILED:Ensure the following libraries do not exist: /usr/lib/libicuio.so, /usr/lib/libicuuc.so, /usr/lib/libicui18n.so. These libraries may cause uvsh to not work properly.
WARNING:The system temp directory /var/tmp/ must have at least 1000 MB of disk space available."

due to this installation process stopped.

so while uninstalling usahdeivs005:/vol01/DS8.5/is-suite/_uninstall# ./__uninstall, am getting error that

"INFO: Un-Installation program will be running in this session, please do not close uninstallation window until uninstallation program completes.
The java executable was not found, aborting uninstallation."
and automatically coming the prompt
.

Please let me know the exact uninsallation steps or procedure and let me know if you need any other details.

I would have to guess the install failed because it found files left over from a previous install. What version was the previous install? Have you run that version's uninstaller?

For 8.5, the Planning, Installation, and Configuration Guide Chapter 25 is about uninstalling, and Chapter 26 is about manual software removal, which you may need to do in this case.

Thanks for information.
present we have 7.5.3 in same solaris 10 server.
We are installing 8.5 on diffirent path, giving diffirent ITAG and using diffirent Port no.
We need to stop datastage 7.5.3 services while installing 8.5 version?
i go through the Chapter 25 & Chapter 26 which is in 8.5, the Planning, Installation, and Configuration Guide.
but here my issue is am not completed installation due to some errors.
so for this type of issue of unistalling which was failed when installation time.
Based on these please provide the removal process.
Onca again thank you in advance for providing helpful information.

Why not get your official support provider involved?

As this is very less price project,we are not preferring to go for vendor help.

Not quite sure what a 'very less price project' might be, does that mean your company is not paying for maintenance? If they are, then full support comes along with that 'for free'. If they're not, then... dang, good luck to you. :(

I suggest you contact the IBM Concierge Program for some guidance. They can give you some migration pointers for "very less price."

Migrating to InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.5 and Version 8.7

I also suggest you contact your regular support provider for help now. Given the new information from your second post, that you're migrating on the same server, it would be a good idea to stay in regular contact with your vendor support.

I am planning to delete temp folder "/var/temp" which is used at installation time as temp folder and also delete given installation "/Vol01" path which is selected at installation time.
And also dropping xmeta_db schema and recreating as same like before installation started.
When next time instllation i will give diffirent installation path.
is this ok?

Sounds fine as long as those locations are not shared with anything else.

I have deleted destination folder to install 8.5 which we used earlier , and also deleted all objects from xmeta schema. Then i tried fresh installation ,installation got success.
