Oracle Connectivity From Datastage Server

Post by ashishm »

We have the Datastage server 8.1 installed on Linux machine. We need to have a DSN to connect to the Oracle database which is on some other windows machine.
please let me know it is enough if we create a DSN at the client machine or do we have to change the config file in UNIX?
It is very urgent for us and we are not able to solve?
pls help me in this regard.

Nothing happens on the client, it all happens on the DataStage server. And what you need to configure depends on how you plan to connect to the Oracle database. Going to use ODBC? Configure the ODBC drivers on the Server. Native Oracle connectivity? Install an Oracle client along with the proper thsnames.ora on the DataStage server then configure it (DataStage) for Oracle. Note that ODBC may need the Oracle client (etc) on the server as well depending on if you use the thick or thin drivers.

All this can be found in the Configuration Guide for Oracle pdf.
