Connecting 8.5 client with 8.1 Server?

Post by abhi.inventor »

I am trying to connect IBM Infosphere 8.1 Server from IBM Infosphere 8.5 Client (Datastage). Will this connection work?

Is this compatible? I am getting an authentication failed error... Is this because of the version difference???

You may try, but it is not going to work - and better had not. The 8.5 Clients present some new functionality not available on an 8.1 Server.

DataStage compares the versions of Clients and Server when connecting.

You will need a parallel install of both Client versions to connect to both systems.

Be advised that you need to install 8.1 first and then 8.5 to make sure that the version 8.1 Client is registered in the MultiClientManager Tool of 8.5. You need to use the MultiClientManager of the latest version installed to switch between Client versions.

Client and server versions must be same.
