IBM Information Server fixpack 2 installation

Post by tcheslav »

Hi.
I've just installed fixpack2 for IBM IS 8.1 and... I don't know if it is sucess or not :|
Installer said that "IPatchInstaller 92171: Update completed with warning. Review the patch installation log file for more information"
Statusbar is on 100% but finish button is inactive.
All IBM IS components are up and running but... here is what I found in Version.xml file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ProductVersion specversion="1.0">
<InstallType client="false" currentVersion="8.1.0.2" document="true" domain="true" engine="true" repository="true"/>
<Products>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="datastagedocs" name="Documentation" tiers="documentation" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="businessglossary" name="Business Glossary" tiers="domain" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="informationanalyzer" name="Information Analyzer" tiers="domain,server,database" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="informationserver" name="Information Server" tiers="domain,server" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="metadataworkbench" name="Metadata Workbench" tiers="domain,server" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="datastage" name="datastage" tiers="domain,server" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="fasttrackinstaller" name="Fast Track" tiers="domain" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="servicesbackbone" name="servicesbackbone" tiers="domain" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="isenterprise" name="Information Server Manager" tiers="domain,server" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="businessglossaryanywhere" name="Business Glossary Anywhere" tiers="domain" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Product installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/" key="repositoryinstaller" name="Xmeta" tiers="database" version="8.1.0.2"/>
</Products>
...
but
...

<History>
<Sequence description="ibm_websphere_information_server" id="0" installLocation="/opt/IBM/InformationServer" lastUpdateDate="Wed Nov 26 05:38:48 PST 2008" patch="" rollback="" status="SUCCESS" undoable="" version="8.1.0.0"/>
<Sequence description="Information Server 8.1 FixPack 2" id="1" installLocation="" lastUpdateDate="Wed Feb 23 03:22:57 PST 2011" patch="8.1.FixPack.1" rollback="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/Updates/fixpack_FP2_IS81_8100-1" status="Fail" undoable="false" version="8.1.0.2"/>
<Sequence description="Information Server 8.1 FixPack 2" id="2" installLocation="" lastUpdateDate="Wed Feb 23 03:22:58 PST 2011" patch="fixpack_FP2_IS81_8100-1" rollback="/opt/IBM/InformationServer/Updates/fixpack_FP2_IS81_8100-1" status="Fail" undoable="false" version="8.1.0.2"/>
</History>
...

It says status="fail" on both fixpacks...

So what do You think? Do I have fixpack2 properly installed or not?

Tches

Well... it seems like they may have failed because they were already installed. So yes and no. :?

Hi,

I know this is an old thread. By any chance, could you tell me how you installed FP2.

Presumably using the correct version of the Update Installer.

Hi.

I installed it using updateInstaller in console mode.
updateINstaller have multiple switches, and one of them allows You to use console.
If You have any specific problem please post it, I will gladly answer.

Hi tcheslav,

I just finished the FP2 installation using GUI mode. I had same situation as you had for the first time. It completed with warnings.

ADMU3100I: Reading configuration for server: server1
ADMU3200I: Server launched. Waiting for initialization status.

Can I rerun the update again in console mode? Not sure if it is because I use the GUi mode and the GUi mode causes the problem.

Hi

Use installer in console mode with -force option. That option will allow You to reinstall FP2.

Good Luck.

Thanks,

Actually there's a problem I am facing. The reason why the installation failed is because one model was partially deployed. ERROR [org.apache.commons.launcher.ChildMain] impl.DefaultModelDeployer - com.ibm.xmeta.exception.ModelIsPartiallyDeployedException: This model is partially deployed: "http:///ASCLModel/1.0/ASCLCustomAttribute.ecore".

And because of that there are some other components are skipped and not updated.

Is there a way to skip that model, so I can complete the rest installation?
